Listen, I know what it feels like when your soul is too big for the cage they’ve built for you.

In corporate America, I was often called a unicorn.

As a Black woman executive from Trinidad & Tobago leading research teams at some of the world’s most influential companies and brands, including Netflix, Twitter (now X), and Colgate-Palmolive, I brought something different to these spaces - an approach to leadership that centered human connection, authentic expression, and the wisdom that comes from truly seeing others.

While this approach made me successful,..

It also highlighted how rare it was to find leaders who could bring their whole selves to work.

Again and again, I heard the same quiet ache from brilliant people,

Especially those from marginalized communities: the weight of code-switching, the cost of shrinking to fit, the edges shaved.

These conversations reveal a profound truth:

Many of our brightest minds are operating in cages - constrained by workplace cultures that weren't designed for their full expression.

Birds Uncaged emerged from my hard-earned liberation.

From a recognition that my deepest calling is to create spaces where bright souls can shed these constraints and discover the power of their authentic expression.
